VET Student Loans Ombudsman – Working with training providers

In 2016, the Australian Government announced that the new VET Student Loans program would replace the VET FEE-HELP scheme To complement this new program, a VET Student Loans Ombudsman (VSLO) has been established within the office of the Commonwealth Ombudsman

Our role is to manage and investigate complaints relating to the VET FEE-HELP scheme and the VET Student Loans program As the VET Student Loans Ombudsman we are: Independent Impartial Not an advocate for either the student or Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and a free service for both RT

Os and students As the VSLO: We investigate complaints from students who believe they have been treated unfairly or unreasonably by either a VET FEE-HELP or VET Student Loan approved RTO We work with RT

Os to understand the complaint, and we will keep you informed throughout the process We engage with RTOs to provide advice and training around best practice complaint-handling We work with the sector to develop a code of practice And we identify and consider systemic issues Our aim is to ensure each complaint is treated fairly For more information on what we do and how we can help you, including information for students, simply head to ombudsman
